Come to know one of the most unspoiled part of the Pyrenees. We are beside the French border, so you will be able to visit a great variety of landscapes, forests and climates (atlantic and mediterranean), and enjoy giddies panoramic views, crystallines mountain lakes and rivers, meadows covered with flowers and enchanted forests.

These holidays are designed for complete day hikes, 5 to 9 hours, and a slope around 500-900 metres, so it is neccesary a relatively good phisycal condition. This will allow us to access to solitary valleys and mountains. In any case we will alternate longer hikes with shorter ones. The routes describe following could change depending on weather conditions, but we will always look for the best alternatives.

The main guide that will accompany you in all the hikes and walks is the local guide, David Ruiz de Gopegui, with a long experience working with different groups in this part of the Pyrenees, he combine the enviromental and ludic facets to show this mountains and valleys. In some holidays we will have the possibility that a geologist specialist, Daniel García Jimenez, will show us the past of these mountains and valleys.

The maximum number of persons admited is 8 and the minimum 6. There wil not be any single supplement. We accept solo travelers, couples and groups as well.

Day by day experience

  • Day 1

Wellcome in Casa Estarrún, Aísa valley. We will present you with a local wine and cheese. After the dinner, we will inform the new guests about the history and nature of this area.

  • Day 2

We will venture to the Aisa Valley, an unspoiled retreat of the Pyrenees, that hides incredibles lanscapes (forest, alpin meadows, karsts, peaks…) dominated by the Aspe peak, with megalithic rests and inhabited by the wall creaper, bearded vulture and the chamois. The hike (around 6 hours, 600-800 metres) will reduce o extend depending of the group preferences. Come back to Casa Estarrún for dinner.

  • Day 3

We will visit the Aspe valley in the French Pyrenees hillside, near the National Park. We will walk across an accesible path (4 hours) through a canyon. In the afternoon we will try to visit the Portalet fortress, but if it would not be posible we will know the impresive modernist Canfranc railway station. Come back to Casa Estarrún for dinner.

  • Day 4

We will access by car to an alpine area at 2000 metres altitude. We will walk through a circular path (5 hours), with the chance for the most adventurous to climb a peak. After we will visit a small but beautiful romanesque churche (San Adrián de Sasabe) and the mountain town of Borau. We only could do this hike depending on the weather, otherwise we will look for another alternative in a nearby valley. Come back to Casa Estarrún for dinner.

  • Day 5

We will visit the nearby and impressive Hecho valley, where we will know a valley full of history; the romans used this valley to go through the Pyrenees. Our destination is the most occidental mountain lake of the Pyrenees, where an endogenous triton inhabits. We will be surprise with a beautiful visigothic monastery.  We will also stop at the Hecho mountain town. Come back to Casa Estarrún for dinner

  • Day 6

We will go to the Ansó valley. The village of Anso is catalogued as one of the most beautiful villages of Spain. We could decide between two possibilities, we could go through a circular path (3 hours, 450 metres incline) in the old beeches Gamueta forest,  or we could also climb to one of the most classical peaks of the Pyrenees, an accesible peak (4-5 hours, 950 metres incline). After we will walk around the Anso village. Come back to Casa Estarrún for dinner.

Casa Estarrún is located near the Western Valleys Natural Park, this park contain five valleys (Ansó, Hecho, Aragües, Aísa y Borau), which offer wide different range of hikes and walks, it´s perfect to escape from others crowded parts of the Pyrenees. The nearness of the France atlantic hillside allow us to visit the Pyrenees National Park and its surroundings like the Aspe and Ossau valleys, a more humed Pyrenee that raises wilder. All these valleys are the home of the last Pyrenees bears and the bearded vultures.
